rules.

Respect boundaries. Yours, and those of the people around you.
This game is designed to encourage and facilitate playing with potentially dark and uncomfortable things. So naturally, you may run into some things that make you uncomfortable, or you might accidentally make someone else uncomfortable.

The number one guideline is check in with other players. If you're not sure whether someone will be down for something you want to do, ask them! You don't have to ask permission for every little thing, especially when you already know the other player and their interests well, but the goal is always to find a way for everyone to have fun and feel at ease (while our characters probably suffer a lot in our stead).

On the flipside, if you're not comfortable with what other players are doing, you're also responsible for curating your own space. If there's a group activity you're not up for, try to think of ways for your character to be elsewhere instead, before asking for the activity to be completely shut down. You don't have to be involved in everything and that's okay.

Be ok with losing sometimes.
When the golden rule of the game is "make sure you have the other player's ok before doing something," it's easy for someone to abuse this and opt out of any blowback against their character. Don't be that guy! Getting your ass kicked and letting someone else's character be the cool one can be just as fun.

Don't powergame/infomod.
Once again: check in with the other player's comfort levels before you have your character kill someone or mind control them or steal their shoes or so on.

Try to steer away from having your character somehow just know by intuition that the secret bad guy from x manga is a bad dude before he even does anything. Breaking the 4th wall can be fun, so there is no hard rule against it, but it depends on the players. If your character is a huge fan of Batman, and someone else plays Batman in the game, ask Batman's player if they're comfortable with 4th wall breaking and to what degree.

Be nice to other players, the mods, and gamerunners.
We're all people here and all friends. Keep that in mind, and don't approach others as if they're working against you. Also, remember that most gamerunners don't like unsolicited criticism!

We may reject any application or kick any player from the game without explanation.
Hopefully not likely to come up much! Depending on the circumstances we might give a reason, but over the years we've seen that giving reasons can sometimes just lead to more commotion and hurt feelings in the end.

No animal killing/harm.
This doesn't apply to talking animals with human level intellect, or player characters who have been temporarily turned into animals. If a character has a pet lizard or something, just don't have your character do anything bad to the lizard.

More rules may be added in the future.
We may have failed to account for some things!
